March 18-24, 2012
Sunday, March 18
Teams will arrive, be met at the Airport and transferred to their selected accommodation.
Mid- afternoon, Team Managers will meet at the host hotel for their Carnival briefing.
Early evening, teams will be transferred to the famed Te Papa National Museum of New Zealand for the Carnival Opening Welcome Party which will be a three hour function offering substantial finger foods and a selection of local beers, wines and juices. A chance to mix and mingle, greet old friends and make new ones. The evening will include light entertainment and a minimum of formalities. At the conclusion of the function, teams will be transferred back to their accommodation to enjoy the local restaurants or the extensive facilities available at their hotels.
Monday, March 19
Teams will transfer to local cricket grounds to enjoy their 1st round of games. Host clubs will offer tea on arrival, a light lunch during the game and the opportunity to enjoy some local hospitality following the game. Early evening teams will be transferred back to their accommodation.
Tuesday, March 20
At leisure and an opportunity to sample some of the delights that New Zealand’s capital city has to offer. The organizers are preparing a range of tours and excursions that will be offered to visiting teams and supporters.
Evening at leisure and the opportunity to explore the world renowned Courtenay Place restaurant and cafe precinct.
Wednesday, March 21
Teams will transfer to local cricket grounds to enjoy their 2nd round of games. Host clubs will offer tea on arrival, a light lunch during the game and the opportunity to enjoy some local hospitality following the game.
Early evening teams will be transferred back to their accommodation.
Thursday, March 22
A special day for those teams, players and supporters who elect to take up the option of the 'Vintage Cricket Big Day Out', featuring a superb train journey through the Hutt Valley and the Rimutuka Ranges to Featherston and then on coach to the Martinborough wine region with delightful wineries, craft shops, displays and cafes. Enjoy lunch at one of the outstanding wineries before returning to Featherston and catching the train back to Wellington. Evening at leisure.
Friday, March 23
Teams will transfer to local cricket grounds to enjoy their 3rd round of games. Host clubs will offer tea on arrival, a light lunch during the game and the opportunity to enjoy some local hospitality following the game. Teams will be transferred back to their accommodation and will be transferred to a venue (to be advised) for a spectacular Finale Dinner and Dance featuring a three course meal, local beers, wines and juices, a range of entertainment and a minimum of formalities.
A relaxed and enjoyable way to end a wonderful week “Celebrating the Great Game of Cricket”.
At the conclusion of a fun evening, teams will be transferred back to their accommodation.
Saturday, March 24
Time to say good-bye to all your cricketing friends and to head for home or to continue on with your exploration of Wellington and other parts of New Zealand and all it has to offer.
