Management of the Carnival
The local Management of the 2008 World Vintage Cricket Carnival will be undertaken by a professional and enthusiastic committee of players and administrators drawn from local clubs.
Michael Perkins: Carnival Local Cricket Director-a slow left arm bowler and negligible batsman, Michael still plays 40 or so games per season and well as umpiring in the Cotswold Hill Cricket League. Michael is a Life Member of host club, Stratford upon Avon Cricket Club where he has played for 44 seasons. He is a member of the Forty Club and the MCC and has toured extensively at home and abroad. Approaching 100 tours, he has managed to take (at last count) 4,797 wickets and should be close to 5,000 when the Carnival commences. A keen rugby referee and founder member of Alcester Rugby Club, Michael is a keen choral singer being a member of four choirs. Versatile and positive, Michael is ideally suited to being the local Cricket Director of the 2008 Vintage Cricket Carnival.
Paul Biddlecombe: Chairman of the Stratford upon Avon Cricket Club which is in turn part of The Sports Club offering Cricket, Squash, Tennis, Hockey, Athletics and Snooker. Paul has masterminded major events including 1st Class matches at Stratford upon Avon. An important member of the Vintage Cricket Management Group, Paul lives within walking distance of the host club.
Winston Duguid: An active member of the Stratford upon Avon Cricket Club 3rd XI which plays in the Cotswold Hills League, Winston has been a regular part of the club and has scored many runs for the 2nd XI prior to making the move to the 3rds (happens to us all eventually). Winston is another in close proximity to the club and is committed to his support of the Carnival.
David Gardner: David has spent a lifetime playing cricket for the Village Club, Norton Lindsey who play in the 1st Division of the Cotswolds Hill League. David is co-ordinator of the Umpires Panel for the Premier Division and with his extensive knowledge of local grounds is a valued member of the organisation with obvious areas of interest.
David Troughton: A versatile and well-known actor with a Shakespearian and classical repertoire, David frequently performs in films, on the stage, in television productions and on radio. David is a qualified ACU Umpires and regularly stands in local matches. David has three sons-one an actor, one on the Warwickshire playing staff and one in the Stratford 1st XI. An interesting and valued member of the Management Group.
In addition to an active local Management Group, Vintage Cricket is represented in the United Kingdom by Irvin Morris, a past player, administrator, scorer, enthusiast, spectator, tour organiser and all things good in Somerset and now continuing his long-standing umpires career in Cheshire.
Further management and marketing is carried out from the Vintage Cricket Office in Auckland, New Zealand where the team is led by Peter McDermott, a past Chairman of the Board of New Zealand Cricket, past delegate to the ICC in London and co-Chairman of the Management Committee of the 1992 Cricket World Cup hosted in Australia and New Zealand.
The group consists of (L to R) Winston Duguid,Michael Perkins,Paul Biddlecombe,David Gardner absent the other committee member David Troughton).
