Welcome to the 5th World Vintage Cricket Carnival, Cape Town
The 5th World Vintage Cricket Carnival will be staged in Cape Town, South Africa between 21 and 28 March, 2010.
The announcement made at the recently completed Carnival at Stratford-upon-Avon was greeted with delight with the 1st teams signing their expression of interest before the 4th Carnival was completed.
To be hosted by the Western Province Cricket Club, the Carnival will offer 3 games of cricket, an opening cocktail party and a closing dine and dance. Numerous excursions are planned for teams, players, officials and supporters to enjoy their visit to Cape Town and its surrounds. A good number of cricket clubs have already expressed interest in hosting games.
Neil Watson, Chairman of the Cricket Committee at Western Province Cricket Club made a smart presentation at the Finale of the Stratford-upon-Avon Carnival and assured all present of warm, fine weather and an equally warm welcome.
“It will be a great time to visit South Africa and Cape Town in particular as it is the year of the World Cup Football in South Africa. The country will be geared to ensuring the visitors experience will be truly world class. In sports mad CapeTown, Vintage Cricket will fit in perfectly” said Neil, an experienced cricket host who has welcomed many dozens of overseas teams in the past 25 years.
Barry Richards, President of the Vintage Cricket Movement greeted the news with delight and has committed to promoting the Carnival in his home country. “Great news and I know that the locals will go out of their way to ensure a true Vintage Cricket experience in Cape Town” said Barry who hopes to attend the Carnival.

“There will be a good range of accommodation available and it appears that prices will be favourable and even two years out we are confident that they will be lower than those offered at previous Vintage Cricket Carnivals” said Peter McDermott, Director of Vintage Cricket. “This is partially due to more competitive prices in South Africa, a favourable currency rate and a number of minor changes made to how the packages are prepared. In any event, we expect to be able to offer excellent value for money and prices that will attract teams from all parts of the cricketing world.”
Vintage Cricket are pleased to announce that former New Zealand international, Vaughan Brown will be assisting with the management of the Carnival. Vaughan who had his 1st experience of Vintage Cricket in Stratford-upon-Avon has an extensive background in travel and obviously has retained his strong interest in cricket at all levels.
